Part 1: Downloading & Installing VirtualBox
First, we'll head to the official VirtualBox website to grab the installer. I'll show you how to download the software for your operating system and guide you through the installation process. It's a quick and simple setup that prepares your computer to run virtual machines.

Tip: Be aware that the installer may temporarily disconnect your network, so be sure to pause any downloads beforehand!

Part 2: Getting the Ubuntu ISO Image
Next, we'll download the Ubuntu Desktop ISO image. This file contains the entire Ubuntu operating system that we will install on our virtual machine. I'll show you where to find the correct download page and explain that this is a larger file, so it may take a little while to download.

Part 3: Creating and Configuring the Virtual Machine
With both files ready, we'll fire up VirtualBox and create a new virtual machine. I'll show you how to:

Name your VM (avoiding spaces!).

Select the Ubuntu ISO image.

Configure the virtual hardware, including RAM (8 GB recommended) and CPU cores (4 recommended) for optimal performance.

Set aside a virtual hard disk size of at least 50 GB to give you plenty of space for programming, hacking, and other tasks.

Part 4: The Installation & First Launch
Finally, we'll start the installation and watch as Ubuntu is set up on our new virtual machine. I fast-forward through the process, showing how quickly it installs (just a few minutes!). Once it's complete, you'll be at the login screen for your brand new Ubuntu virtual machine, ready to open the terminal and start your Linux journey!

I even show you a quick command like man ls to prove that you can start practicing Linux commands right away!
