In this extreme winter survival challenge, I was completely alone in the deep frozen wilderness. With minimal gear, I had to rely on primitive skills to make it through two nights in sub-zero temperatures.
My only shelter was a snow hole shelter (snow grave) that I dug by hand into a deep snowdrift. This snow pit survival technique is a last-resort method for emergency winter shelter, and I put it to the ultimate test.
But shelter wasn't enough. I had to find a way to make fire in the snow. I scouted the winter forest and found a critical resource: dry dead wood from a standing dead tree. Processing it into firewood by hand was a grueling task, but it allowed me to build a life-saving survival fire.
That fire was my key to melting snow for water and cooking food in the wild over the open flames. For 48 hours, this snow cave was my home as I faced the challenges of solo winter survival.
This video is a full documentary of my 2-day winter survival experience, covering:
➜How to build an emergency snow shelter (quinzhee/snow pit)
➜The right way to find dry firewood in a wet winter forest
➜Primitive fire-making and campcraft in deep snow
➜The mental and physical reality of overnight winter survival
Survival Gear Used: Knife, Metal Cup, Sleeping Bag, Tarp
This was one of my most challenging solo wilderness adventures. Could you survive two days and nights in a snow grave?
