Noriko Takaya is the daughter of an officer whose expedition was lost to space monsters. Attending a school for robot pilots, she becomes determined to train herself to be worthy of the mission of saving humanity. Together with school idol Kasumi Amano, and with the help of the school's Coach, they fight the space monsters in the powerful Gunbuster machine. But the greatest tragedy might be the passage of time for our heroes.
