Fly Fishing Montana's Bitterroot River in April by Floating from Hannon to Wally [Series Episode #9]

Описание: In this full show we are fly fishing for trout, using our raft to float the upper river and hit the famous Skwala hatch. We fish with dry flies and nymphs and catch and release some truly magnificent Cutthroats. The Bitterroot River is a very popular all season long but the Skwala hatch holds something special for many people. We decide to take our time getting on the water and let other boats get in front of us a ways, so it is a fairly mild temperature when we first carve the water with our oars. We start with Skwala nymphs and San Juan worm patters but quickly switch to Skwala dry flies as we see the actual see rising and anticipate the hatch. With the Skwala hatch it does not seem like there needs to be a lot of actual bugs hatching to get the fish keyed in on them. The numbers of strikes really picks up at the peak of the hatch. We are able to catch fish for the rest of the afternoon and early evening with the Skwala Dry Flies. A super-fun day enjoying the outdoors of Montana.
