With all seven Chaos Emeralds safe and secure, Sonic and Tails continue their adventure across West Side Island in pursuit of Dr. Robotnik who has fled to the Chemical Plant Zone. Tails is surprised that an entire industrial facility was constructed on his home island so quickly, but Sonic points out Robotnik is an expert on quick construction thanks to his many robots. Sonic next reaches the Aquatic Ruin Zone, a very sharp contrast to the industrial Chemical Plant. Although it appears calm and peaceful, many traps and Badniks roam the land creating a dangerous environment.
Finally, Sonic reaches the main city area of the island, where he finds the Casino Night Zone. This iconic area is filled with pinball tables and slot machines, but Sonic can't waste too much time in the area as Robotnik awaits with yet another deadly trap...
