James Brooke, born in 1803, was a British adventurer who became the first White Rajah of Sarawak in 1841. Known for his efforts to end piracy and slavery, Brooke established a unique governance blending British principles with local traditions. His reign marked the beginning of the Brooke Dynasty, which ruled Sarawak for over a century, leaving a lasting legacy in its history and development.
