This device i built transforms the heartbeat into CV and gate signals to control a synthesizer for my sound performance 'Heart ad libitum'
Using a @sparkfun EKG Module AD8232 and electrodes placed on the body, the heart data is read and processed by an @Arduino Uno and then sent to an @adafruit MCP4728 digital-to-analog converter to generate three separate outputs:
Output A: Raw heart data to the CV input.
Output B: Smoothed heart data to the CV input.
Output C: Heartbeat as a 0/5V gate signal (with adjustable threshold) to the synthesizer gate input.
Two potentiometers are used to adjust the following parameters:
Pot 1: Threshold for the gate output.
Pot 2: Smoothing of the heart data (adjusting the Savitzky-Golay filter's window size).
The synthesizer used in this video is a MFOS Sound Lab Mini-Synth.
