This is after about $10k of work to remove the engine and replace all the broken parts and clean out all the bits of plastic. The motor runs like new our maybe even better. I removed the pretty V8 cowles to get more sound out of the engine

There was a loud ticking when starting, which subsided to a constant soft ticking. Before I took it in, something actually seemed to jam the timing in one position. Then I couldn't accelerate and the motor's power was limited, so I would just putt around, but with the V8 that was still plenty of power to roll at 70 on the freeway.
