President Trump posted about a 50-Year Mortgage option. This may sound crazy, but when the 30-Year Mortgage option came out in the 1954, everyone was as worried but it raised home ownership levels by 20%.
We most likely not see a 50-Year Mortgage option, but a 35 or 40 may be on the table. It would help home buyers have a more affordable monthly payment with rising home prices. Anthony does not recommend it for most buyers, but if you need to start with a longer mortgage rate to have a lower monthly payment, then refinance to a more traditional 30 or even 15 year, then it may be ideal.
While we wait, we’re seeing lower interest rates and the potential to go even lower after December 1st when the Federal Reserve starts selling off mortgage backed securities.
