Kathmandu Durbar Square is an important historical and cultural location in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is one of the trio of Durbar (Royal Palace) Squares located in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal that are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Hanuman Dhoka is a group of buildings that includes the Royal Palace of the Malla kings as well as that of the Shah dynasty, situated in the Durbar Square of central Kathmandu, Nepal. The Hanuman Dhoka Palace derives its name from the stone statue of Hanuman, the Hindu god, located close to the main entrance. 'Dhoka' translates to door or gate in the Nepali language.
