This is open skill practice for the natural minor scale.
You’ve mapped the scale.
Now you make music with it.
This video is about expression, phrasing, and learning how minor feels when placed inside harmony.
🎼 Key ideas:
Open skill = freedom, creativity, expression
You’re no longer running a scale — you’re speaking with it
The backing track gives the notes emotional context
Backing track progression:
Cm – Ab – Eb – Gm – G7
Listen to how the harmony reacts to your note choices.
🧠 How to use the backing track (2 minutes):
Minute 1 — Explore
Play the scale horizontally on one string
Add expression on every connection:
Hammer-ons
Pull-offs
Slides
Bends
Vibrato
Minute 2 — Create
Choose 3–4 notes and turn them into a motif
(example: C–Eb–D–C)
Repeat it
Vary the rhythm, articulation, or direction
Let the phrase evolve instead of adding notes
🎯 Why this matters:
Closed skill gives you control
Open skill gives you voice
This is how scales turn into phrasing
Minor isn’t about speed.
It’s about intention.
💡 Pro tips:
Leave space — silence makes phrases hit harder
Land on Eb or Ab to hear the harmony lock in
One bend into Eb can say more than 10 fast notes
If it sounds honest, you’re doing it right.
