When do we use -CH and when do we use -TCH at the end of a word? Sparkle explains how the rule works: when the sound directly before the /ch/ sound at the end of the word is a short vowel sound, we spell the last sound -TCH. If the sound right before /ch/ is a consonant or long vowel sound, the word will usually end with -CH.
