Video is powerful in many different ways, so before you dive into video, you should be looking at what you want to accomplish and then follow a video strategy to accomplish that goal.
Today I’m going to cover really quickly 11 different goals that video can help you achieve.
And while a video might be able to achieve two of these goals at once, trying to do too many things in one video is a sure-fire way to achieve none of them.

Let’s start with website assets. If you’ve got a website, you need photos and graphics and copy and video. Video’s great on your homepage to explain what you do, or your About page to show who you are.
Lead generation. If you’re building an email list or collecting leads, video can be used at the beginning of the funnel to ask for an email address, or it can be used at the end as a lead magnet. In essence, you give people access to a series of valuable videos in exchange for their email address.
Authority-building. If you want to be seen as an authority in your niche, you could post vlogs, make infographics, speak at events or make a video series showing off your knowledge and value. Except for meeting someone in person, video is the best tool to have someone remember you and your message.
Sales. If you have a product to sell, video can sell it. Webinars are one of the best ways to sell products online.
Revenue. This is a two-parter. First, you could sell access to your videos through a membership site or e-course. Or you can make money through advertising or brand deals on your videos.
Community-building and interaction. BLAB is a great tool for bringing new folks into your community and getting to know them – or at least it was. I’m recording this video in June 2016 and BLAB seems to be changing their model, so we’ll need to watch this one.
Building audience rapport. If you’re willing to peel back the curtain and share behind-the-scenes video, also known as your “real life” with your fans, then Snapchat video is a great way to allow your community access.
Engage your current audience. If you already have a community of loyal fans, you can use something like BLAB or Facebook Live or Zoom to interact with your community on a regular basis.
Spreading your message. You’ve got something to say that the world needs to hear. Especially if people are actively looking for answers in your niche, then YouTube is the place to answer those questions.
Testimonials. Potential customers want to know that you’re everything you say you are, and video testimonials from existing clients help build that trust.
And lastly, direct client work. If you want to interact with clients around the globe but you don’t want to just use the phone, then something like Skype or Zoom would be great for you.
