I am experiencing the infamous fog horn sound that comes from my tankless water heater. It’s a Rinaii R75-LS (which I am told is basically the same as a Rinaii R75-LSi. This does not happen in the Summer months, only in the colder months.

What is sounds like (also in my videos):
There are two sounds, depending on the conditions one more intense than the other.
1) A short fog horn, pause, then a really long fog horn for about 5-10 seconds total
or
2) Just a short fog horn, probably because the hot water ran semi-recently.
The fog horn happens when:
1) The thermostat turns on and its been at least an hour without any hot water running.
or
2) I turn on the shower faucet and its been at least an hour without any hot water running.
It doesn’t happen when:
I turn on my kitchens sink faucet or bathroom sink faucet or its Summer time
To prevent this from happening:
1) A workaround I’ve been using for years - run the kitchen or bathroom faucet until it is screaming hot, then turn on the shower faucet or thermostat
