6 CWT Morris 1000 Light Van
Owned and Restored by Kenny Smith
It was first registered on January 1st 1964 and was last on the road in 1998
I purchased the van on August 27th 2003 for £600!
I gave up smoking and decided to put the money to better use and this was how I purchased the van.
Since owning it, I have completely restored it myself, having learned everything from welding to spraying.
My interest for old cars and engines comes from my Dad, who has been a wealth of knowledge and has helped me out on various mechanical parts of the restoration.
It has been an on and off project over 19 years with many challenges along the way.
Total cost of the restoration is approximately £4200 and a lot of dirt under the nails
I am the third owner of the van, which started off life in Hastings delivering Fruit & Veg.
The name of my van, ‘Morris Gump’ comes, obviously from the film ‘Forrest Gump’ which many friends have called me due to my running the London Marathon on ten occasions!
I know this van inside and out and it is a massive part of me and we shall never part
