WHY FAITH FAILS IN PRACTICE — E.W.KENYON ON ACTION, NOT AGREEMENT
Why do so many sincere Christians believe the Bible, quote the Scriptures, pray faithfully—and yet see so little change? Why does faith appear powerful in Scripture but weak in everyday experience?
In this uncompromising teaching drawn from the writings and revelation of E.W. Kenyon, the root of the problem is exposed with clarity and precision. The failure is not in God. The Word has not lost its power. The gospel has not weakened. The tragedy, as Kenyon boldly states, is that faith has been misunderstood.
Many believers have confused faith with mental agreement. They agree that the Bible is true, defend doctrine passionately, and admire God’s promises—yet never act on them. E.W. Kenyon calls this deception mental assent: believing about the Word without believing in the Word. And this subtle counterfeit has produced a church that is orthodox in belief but powerless in results.
True Bible faith is not passive. It is not intellectual consent. It is not hoping, waiting, or agreeing. Faith is the human spirit taking God at His Word and acting as though it is so. Where there is no action, there is no faith—no matter how much Scripture is quoted.
This teaching reveals why:
Mental agreement produces religion, not results
Faith always acts in the present tense
Hope looks forward, but faith receives now
Redemption is finished, not pending
The Word only becomes life when it is acted upon
Confession enforces what faith believes
Faith speaks to circumstances instead of waiting on them
E.W. Kenyon explains that faith is rooted in revelation knowledge, not sense knowledge. Faith does not wait for feelings, evidence, or favorable conditions. It rests on the finished work of Christ. When Jesus said, “It is finished,” redemption was completed. Faith does not try to persuade God to act—it responds to what God has already done.
Mental assent waits.
Faith acts.
Mental assent says, “I know the Bible says…”
Faith says, “Because God has spoken, I move.”
This message also exposes why mental assent is more dangerous than unbelief. Unbelief knows it does not believe. Mental assent thinks it does—while never stepping into obedience. It delays victory, postpones healing, weakens prayer, and keeps believers stuck in perpetual waiting.
Kenyon brings the believer back to the biblical definition of faith found in Hebrews 11:1—faith is substance now, evidence now. Faith operates in the eternal present, enforcing redemption with words and actions aligned with God’s Word.
If you have ever wondered why your faith felt sincere but ineffective, this teaching will challenge you, clarify you, and call you into a higher understanding. Christianity was never meant to be admired—it was meant to be demonstrated.
Faith does not wait.
Faith acts.
