Crib Safety PSA!

ITS TIME FOR A BIG KID BED 👇

it becomes a big safety hazard when a child has outgrown the crib to actually stay in it!

Even if they’re not climbing out of it yet, because they’re likely to , at some point, decide they want to!

👉If a child is taller than 35 inches or
👉The railing of the crib comes to mid chest (nipple line)
They have outgrown their crib!

if they aren’t this tall, but they start climbing out of it. They have also out the grown in their crib and it’s time to switch to a bed.

Remember when switching to a bed and you need to ensure safety in every corner of their bedroom

👉 remove small toys,
👉 anchor any furniture
👉Lock the windows and make sure they have childproof safety locks
👉 remove all corded blinds
👉 we chose to keep our camera/ monitor in their bedroom so we could monitor them during this transition!
👉 make sure things outside of their bedroom are secure and safe: gates at staircases and gates at rooms you don’t want the kids in, locked bathrooms or hide or remove the drain plugs for bathtubs (too many stories layers of toddlers getting up at night. Turning on the water plugging the drain and climbing in the bath. You can imagine what may happen next.)

Pro tip; get rid of any toy, chests or boxes that are large enough to fit children but big enough that if they got stuck inside, they wouldn’t be able to get out (children have died in these overnight)

This can be a tricky transition and also scary because there’s a loss that can happen…

But it can also be one of the most wonderful transitions you make, and this is how I felt because

Now I get to read while laying in bed with my boys every night and then I snuggle them to sleep- this is because we got full-size beds that are big enough to fit all of us! 💗
