Ojibwe people have made maple sugar for centuries and they continue to make it today. Watch how it's done in this video, shot in Maple Plain, MN at Porky's Sugarbush near Lake Independence in 2011.
It takes about thirty-five gallons of sap to produce just one gallon of maple syrup. From there, the syrup can be boiled down further to get about 7 lbs of sugar from one gallon of maple syrup.
