The petition was filed by Sofiyan Shaikh, brother of Moin Shaikh, who has sought a CBI investigation into the matter. According to the petition, Moin was allegedly taken into custody on the night of April 25–26 and assaulted while detained. The plea further claims that the alleged incident preceded his death by suicide on April 28.
