The inspiration for this composition is sitting on your back porch somewhere on a farm in the Midwest Plains, the afternoon sun is warm, storm clouds with lightning and rain are in the distance. You are sitting on the back porch remembering the good ol' times, wishing you could relive them. The storm that was off in the distance, disappears and is no longer going to hit.
The other meaning or figurative if you will is that tension rises in the beginning, symbolizing a time you really miss that is now gone. The key change near the middle to end serves as the realization that although the times or people or things you enjoyed the most may not be here. Good things are still to come.
