Tucker's Prosthetic Journey

Описание: OrthoPets started working with Animal Ark Animal Hospital and Tucker around 6 months ago. Tucker had a sub total elective level of amputation because one of his back legs became stuck in a barbwire fence for an extended period of time. Once Tucker was rushed to the vet office, his vet tried to save as much leg as possible. After extensive skin grafts and surgical techniques to save as much of the leg as possible, the bottom part of Tucker's leg had to be amputated. After 4 months of continued medical treatment his skin grafts resolved. Tucker's vet contacted OrthoPets to start the process of a custom made prosthetic device. He was able to learn to walk on all four legs through extensive Rehab and his custom made prosthetic. As you can see from this video, Tucker started off in his stage 1 prosthetic. What OthoPets learned from his stage 1 prosthetic was he needed more rotational control because he was able to return to an extremely high level of function that far exceeded all of our expectations. We then looked at all the pictures, video, and feedback from Tucker's vet and moved on to the stage 2, and final prosthetic. OrthoPets decided to add a thigh component to this stage 2 prosthetic to gain the necessary rotational control. We have to give most of the credit to his referring veterinarian and staff for all their patience, dedication, and perseverance to enable Tucker to be 4 legged normal dog, instead of 3 legged dog. Without the willingness to work with OrthoPets as a team, and superior communication, Tucker would not be where he is today. This is a great success!
