Spent the past week designing and making some parts for my car. It started off with wanting to make stronger and longer damping forks cause I just kept breaking them. I soon realised that the fork though brittle might not be the cause of the breaking but due to the fork hitting the carbon fiber wing above. Now the pivot that the fork mates to I broke a couple myself and not a fan of how weak they are. This gave me the reason to replace them where the pivot sits lower down allowing for more clearance from the carbon wing. The pivot uses a 2mm steel pin and though it's a straight pin and not a ball, it doesn't seem to hinder movement (rearpod doesn't go up and down, but swings around an axis)
Now I haven't been happy how the side springs and work as rear springs too with the aid of the rubber bump stop. I personally do not like the bump stop as it acts as a pivot of a lever putting alot of stress on the pivot screw and threads. Additionally those bump stops could compress and change over time. I moved the side springs to only work as side springs and have a rear touring car shock to just be a rear shock
