The course is one lap with a loop taking in the beautiful scenes of Derwent Water and the surrounding mountain ranges. There was a peace and tranquillity whilst running through the forest.
It starts near the visitor centre and has over 200m of ascent.
The course finishes at a higher point than the start,
The first 300+m are downhill on trail paths and is steep in parts.
Then there is a gradual long climb to the highest point on the parkrun course.
The climb has various gradients.
Then there is a short downhill section before turning left turn into the forest and a small loop.
As you turn left, it is a steep descent for 50-75m.
Then a gradual climb back up to the trail path that you were on, before you turned into the forest.
As you come out of the forest back onto the trial path, you continue back up to the highest point on the parkrun course. Then it is downhill to the finish.
As you go downhill to the finish, you pass the point where you turned into the forest.
This time you go straight on and it is a short distance to the finish.
After the finish, you continue down the trail path which leads you back to the start and the Cafe and car park.
