When it comes to gaming, many folks would be familiar with Capcom's excellent NES games based on Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers, released in 1990. But did you know that there was another Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers game came out the same year? Not many folks know about this one, as this was released exclusively for MS-DOS in the USA and Canada.
In the game, the player controls Chip helped by Dale (automatically controlled by computer), who break through the obstacles made by one of their archvillains, Professor Norton Nimnul. The Rescue Rangers go through 9 levels to save Monterey Jack caught in a mouse trap in Nimnul's castle.
On the first three levels, Rangers must get to Nimnul's castle jumping in and out of pits, avoiding the running dogs and falling acid drops thrown by Nimnul himself.
On the next set of three levels, Chip must avoid fire thrown from candles, collect screws, and give them to Dale as he runs away from dogs.
On the last three levels, Chip must avoid the machine with hands, collect screws, and give them to Dale running away from dogs.
Between levels, animations show how the player progresses in the game, such as, for example, Zipper transferring the screws collected by Rangers so Gadget can repair the flying machine.

FUN FACT: According to MobyGames, the developer behind this forgotten Disney game, Riedel Software Productions, also developed several other games that were published by Hi-Tech Expressions, including The Chase on Tom Sawyer's Island (based on an attraction at Disneyland), Win, Lose or Draw, Remote Control, Adventures of Beetlejuice: Skeletons in the Closet, several Sesame Street games, two Looney Tunes DOS games, the DOS version of Gremlins 2: A New Batch, as well as three Super Nintendo games: Tom & Jerry and SNES versions of Beethoven's 2nd and The Hunt for Red October.
The final game this developer made was Wishbone: Activity Zone, based on a TV show, released in 1997 for PC (Windows 3.1, Windows 95) and Macintosh by Palladium Interactive. Yes, the same company that published the painfully unfunny parody games Pyst, The X-Fools, Star Warped and Microshaft Winblows 98.
