TONE pot for my guitar? What's the difference?

Now what's actually happening when you're adding a tone pot to a guitar which only has a volume pot ? how does it affect the guitar sound and electronics

A fairly popular configuration is a single 500k volume pot and a selector switch, (like on my RGD) in my case I found that there was a bit too much of a push or peak in some areas, which lead me down this rabbit hole of pot values and here adding a tone pot, different values especially in a passive circuit make a difference be it 250k , 500k , 1meg etc.. and don't get my started on the value of the tone cap =) but that's a whole other discussion

This is something I did recently on my Ibanez RGD and I'm really happy i did, so here's a before and after , tone comparisons with all sorts of nerdy details
