The first phase candidate list of the Congress for the Kerala Assembly elections will be announced today. The announcement is expected to be made later today. The party is planning to declare candidates in 55 constituencies in this phase.

The protest is against the move to field Ramya Haridas as the candidate in Chirayinkeezhu. Local Congress leaders have complained to the party high command that they do not want an imposed candidate.
