Описание: Yakushima is a subtropical island off the southern coast of Kyushu and part of Kagoshima Prefecture. It is covered by an extensive virgin cedar forest that contains some of Japan's oldest living trees. Trees more than 1000 years old are affectionately called Yakusugi, the most ancient (Jomon sugi) of which may be over 7000 years old. A 2 days and 1 night hike in Yakushima is something you should plan well in advance. It took me two months to prepare for this trip. First I had to go out and train myself to carry a heavy bag for several hours (My bag was about 8 kg). Then I had to select carefully the equipment, food and drinks I would carry with me. Since I was planning to make a video I also had to carry the camera, accessories,... Of course I checked the itinerary I wanted to take: about 10 kms with about 1,000m elevation gain.
With such a long preparation I was so satisfied to walk around these beautiful trees, cross rivers and admire a mountain ranch,...
