This was probably the most LIT any local show ever got, in those days. This was '93 so stage diving and crowd surfing had totally erupted nationally with grunge and definitely with metal! Everybody wanted that "Cowboys From Hell" music video experience! That's what this whole night turned into. Abuse rented out the Gulfport Jaycees Hall, built a plywood stage, brought in lights and sound and threw an ALL AGES metal extravaganza to rival all others! I believe this was senior year for everybody in the band and as the VHS label in my handwriting denotes, it was only the bands' second public performance! So, you can see how polished and hard the original ABUSE came charging out of the gate! (Travis "Skit" Vorhes, Jason "Jay Boy" Ramsay, Jeremy "13" Young and Brian "Papa" Strong.) This footage consists of pre-show highlights, plus ABUSE soundcheck, a peek at the openers; God Awful, from New Orleans, who got the pit ignited... followed by Aisle 9; also from the coast, who brought the 90's alt-rock and got the room whipped into a frothy stage-diving lather. After that, the Titans of Mississippi Power Groove, ABUSE took the stage and unleashed ten tons of whoop ass on a packed house of Gulf Coast headbangers. The Gulfport Jaycees Hall was waaay over capacity with NO inside security and the place erupted with pitting and diving, the rest of the night! Those were definitely the days!... just kids LIVING and revelling in the moment and not a goddamn cellphone in sight! As always, a 20 year old, WLOX trained, news videographer, Dan Ram was there, covering the story and catching ALL the action. What follows is ABUSE's entire set; 13 songs shot from every angle including on stage with the band and behind the drums, even.
