Originally published in the January 1965 issue of Worlds of Tomorrow magazine. One more magazine appearance followed in a French edition of Galaxy in October of the following year. It then appeared in a Romanian anthology in 1995, and a multitude of collections of the author's stories, including: The Preserving Machine in 1969, The Little Black Box in 1987, We Can Remember It For You Wholesale in 1991, and The Collected Stories, Volume Four in 2023.
