The Oxford Covid vaccine has been approved for use in the UK, with millions of doses now set to be distributed from Monday, sparking new hope that the pandemic can be brought under control in a matter of months.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency has ruled that the vaccine should be given in two doses - though these will be administered up to 12 weeks apart, as the government intends to use the first wave of supplies on as many people as possible.
