I Love This Place… But Will It Work When I’m Older?

This house works great for me right now.
But I’ve started asking a question most people wait too long to ask… what about later?
We all reach a point — especially if we live alone — where we start wondering how many productive years we really have left. Not just big things, but small things most people never think about… climbing stairs, changing a light bulb, carrying groceries, or just getting around your own house safely.
Nothing is wrong right now.
I’m in good health.
But it only takes one fall, one injury, one unexpected event to change everything.
Watching my parents age has made this impossible to ignore. Things that used to be simple for them are now difficult or dangerous. And in rural parts of the country, there are very few real options for seniors who still want independence without paying outrageous assisted-living costs.
This video isn’t about fear.
It’s about thinking ahead while you still can.
I’m not planning to leave this place — but every project I do now is done with the future in mind. Accessibility. Simplicity. Options. Because waiting until you have to decide usually means you don’t get to decide at all.
If you live alone, live rural, or plan to age in place, I’d be interested to hear how you’re thinking about it where you live.
