The Cleveland Business Journal is reporting:

The Small Business Administration will open its $25 billion Targeted Economic Injury Disaster Loan Advance grant program to millions more small businesses in the coming days.

In an interview with The Business Journals, SBA Administrator Isabel Guzman said that the dramatic expansion of the program could come early this month. Until recently, the Targeted EIDL Advance and the Supplemental Advance were by invitation only and opened only to small businesses that applied for an EIDL.

The agency has already sent over 500,000 emails to businesses that applied for an EIDL after Dec. 27. Still, soon it will throw open the doors to every small business that meets the eligibility criteria - namely, being in a low-income area and having seen a significant drop in revenue throughout the pandemic.

Guzman said quote: "We are near the position of being able to just open it up more broadly where it's not invitation only, it's a link to a platform. We are working through those details, and hopefully sometime early this month, we will be able to broaden it so we can reach all those low-income with impacted revenues to all who are eligible."

She said the application platform would be based on the same technology as the EIDL application to leverage existing technology, but the SBA hopes to simplify the process to make it easier for small businesses.

The move to open the grant program more broadly comes after its lackluster launch in February. Since then, the SBA has doled out $1.2 billion in 141,840 grants for its targeted advance program and another $413 million across 82,742 grants for its follow-up supplemental targeted advance, just a fraction of the billions allocated to the program by Congress.

As I have covered in previous videos, these delays are far more than the typical government incompetence; the only answer is purposeful stonewalling by politicians on both sides of the political aisle. The core fiscal conservative side of the republicans does not want to spend more money, which is equivalent to corporate welfare for all small businesses; they want to target the spending to businesses that need it. Then, on the other hand, you have the socialist democrat side that wants to push more multi-trillion-dollar spending bills through Congress. The only way they hope to get those passed is if the public is starving and in need of handouts. If the economy were thriving, the average voter would turn down these spending policies.

In 2019 small businesses generated 43.5% of the country's gross domestic product, GDP, which comes out to 9.1 trillion dollars.

In case you are wondering, Congress wasted $5.9 trillion on their stimulus packages, and millions of small businesses were lucky to get a few thousand dollars in stimulus, with many getting nothing. My proposal, whatever you made in 2019, you would make in 2020. Problem solved.
