Описание: Early retirement from teaching. How I did it. What it cost... and why I wish I had done it earlier. At 56 I have retired from teaching and taken my pension early. "Ouch" people say "you should have left it in until you are 60. You will lose so much money".

Well the answer to that is "I am perfectly fine thanks". In this video I shall explain why and how I took early retirement. I will talk through my workings on a spreadsheet to look at what the real costs are to taking early retirement, and how (in my view) they are not really costs you need to consider.

I have been in Education for over 32 years and started teaching in 1991. I worked in London until 2014 and then moved to the North West. I have done every job on the SLT portfolio in my time, and led a school as Acting Headteacher for six months. It is that final experience that made me decide to seriously consider going early. I loved it, was good at it; but it sucked every bit of my energy.
I want more from life. I want to ride my motorbike :)
