Pakistan gets reward for ‘flattering’ Trump; US approves major military upgrade to F-16 radar system

Описание: White House approved a major military upgradation for Islamabad after recent India-Pakistan conflict. US Air Force awarded Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. USD 488 Million for long-term support to Pak’s F-16 radar systems. The contract will support APG-66 & APG-68 radar systems used on F-16 fighter aircraft, till March 31, 2036. The April 2026 contract, announced amid heightened regional sensitivities following India’s Operation Sindoor victory. Pakistan suffered major damage to its air bases, defence systems and fighter aircrafts, highlighting India’s technical edge. Pakistan has since lost no opportunity to flatter US President Trump in order to get favours from Washington. Time and again, PM Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir supported Trump’s claims of mediating India-Pak ceasefire. New Delhi, on the other hand, maintained its steady position, and denied any external interference in the matter. However, US has avoided introducing advanced AESA radar systems to Pakistan, while extending support to older versions. US’ highly calibrated move injects volatility into the region, while at the same time maintaining strategic ties with India.
