At the time of 1964 the RAF decided to amalgamate all their aerobatic teams, and have just one full-time team. They set up a new team for 1965 usng 7 Folland Gnats, and called them "The Red Arrows" - the rest is history . . .
. . . 50 years on from the very first UK display at Biggin Hill on 15th May 1965, they have performed well over 4500 displays in 53 coutries, plus hundreds of famous flypasts with Concorde, A380, F22 Raptor, etc . . .
This video shows the team in 2014 at the most recent of their UK displays, and some very spectacular shots of the team leaving and rriving back at RAF Scampton, their home base.
