This is a comparison of Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 18 and Blackstar ID60 TVP Head. Reason is that I wanted to check out, which one suits better and will one will stay with me in future.
For both amps I used just one channel and one preset.
The Tubemeister is played in 5W-mode, the ID60's preset of the master section is put the way that itis similar to the Tubemeister.
I forgot to show the audio files in Cubase to see that the volume is nearly the same.
Both amps have been recorded with my standard setup:
"TomBox" - Isolation cab with Eminence V12 Legend speaker
DAP PL07ß and DAP PL07 microfone, panned left and right (smoothly)
Motu Traveller MKII soundcard
CUBASE Steinberg 7.5
No pedals used
Reverb and Delay coming from Cubase after the recording
No EQ
I chose the 5W mode of the tubemeister because this beast is loud, even in 5W! I made a check before with both amps in the rehearsal room and had two Palmer cabs with Celestion V30 Speaker and it was unbelievable loud with 18 Watt! 5 Watt is a good compromise in sound and neighbourhood!
