Number 12/25: "Sunset"
This is one of the paintings I did for a solo show at ALP gallery Peter Bergman in 2003. After making the "Free-look mode" Counter-Strike paintings I wanted to continue exploring computer graphics, and specifically how it looked when a game world fell apart, or as in this case, was created. The combination of abstraction and naturalistic rendering fascinated me, and I used a landscape generator called "Terragen" to build the scenes. However, I crashed the renderings before they could finish, resulting in these broken landscapes, interrupted in the process of being born out of the void.
The paintings are named after the atmospheric 'preset' in the software.
