Описание: #3 Kaplan hosted #6 Lake Charles College Prep for a Quarterfinal matchup in the 2018 Louisiana High School football playoffs. The Pirates welcomed back Senior tailback Drake Abshire, who suffered an injury in the 1st Round matchup vs Jennings. After a scoreless first quarter, Abshire scored a rushing touchdown early in the second quarter to put the Pirates up 6-0, the score would remain the same at half. Senior RB Logan Roy kicked off the scoring in the second half with 41 yard touchdown scamper, Abshire ran in the two point conversion for the 14-0 Kaplan lead with 5:01 left in the third quarter. The Pirate defense held the Trailblazers scoreless until 7:21 in the fourth quarter, where LCCP scored on a 42 yard pass to narrow the margin 14-6. Kaplan Senior fullback Braylon Romero scored on an 8 yard touchdown run and added the two point conversion on a run up the middle to put the Pirate up 22-6 over the Trailblazers with 3:32 left to play in the game. LCCP scored on a touchdown pass with 2:30 remaining to make the score 22-12, which would be the final. The Pirates were able to run out the clock to advance to their third consecutive Semifinal appearance, where they would travel to face the #2 seeded Eunice Bobcats.
