Fingerboard Review: Dynamic Trucks!

Описание: Some of you may remember that the other month I stopped by Slushcult’s Mini Mart when I was on vacation in Southern California. Well, when I was there I was able to see Scott from Dynamic again. He’s a great person, and runs his company the right way!

Anyways, Scott gave me a few items to try out – and for this video we will be testing out the differences between the Dynamic Regular trucks and the Dynamic Special Edition trucks.

I received both trucks in 32mm as this is my preferred size of setup.
Looking at both trucks – they are super similar. The hanger and baseplates themselves look identical, with the primary difference being the kingpin. The standard Dynamic trucks have an inverted kingpin, for those that don’t know an inverted kingpin is screwed into the baseplate to tighten. While the Special Editions have the traditional locknut kingpin.
Most of you may know that I’ve been rocking BRT’s since Rendezvous 6! So I was excited to try out the Special Editions!

I have a few pairs of Dynamics – and really do enjoy the standard truck. It’s nice to have a different design and weight to a truck. I have some decks where I prefer the Dynamic Truck to the BRT and vice-versa!
So let’s compare the Special Editions to the standard Dynamic Truck. First, you can see the difference between the two in the kingpin design. The inverted kingpin allows more clearance for the truck when you are riding loose.

Additionally, there is a weight discrepancy of about a 3rd of a gram per truck. This is interesting! I have always felt the standard Dynamics were light, and they definitely are. The Special Edition are closer to the BRT weight, and are a bit heavier.

For this test, I am running Berlinwood decks and Flatface Wheels for both setups. Note I am using a g4 wheel on one and a g8 on the other due to me not having extra in either type.

So, performance wise both are great. These trucks are well engineered. They also look clean as well. I highly recommend trying a set of each to learn about your own preference.

For me, I lean slightly towards preferring the Special Editions. This is most likely due to the weight being similar to BRTs, which is in my comfort zone! I like a setup with a little heft!
