Описание: Cochin International Airport (IATA: COK, ICAO: VOCI) is an international airport situated in the city of Kochi, in the state of Kerala, India. It is the first fully solar energy depended airport in the world, Located at Nedumbassery, about 30 km (19 mi) northeast of Kochi, it is the busiest and largest airport in the state of Kerala. For the financial year 2014-15, Cochin airport is the fourth busiest airport in India in terms of international passenger traffic after Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai ferrying over 4,758,324 passengers and seventh busiest airport in India carrying 7,968,475 passengers. Cochin International Airport is the first in India developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model and was funded by nearly 10,000 non-resident Indians from 30 countries. On 18 August 2015, Cochin International Airport became the world's first fully solar powered airport with the inauguration of a dedicated solar plant.
Cochin International Airport Limited is gearing up to take new challenges in passenger traffic growth as its dream project is about to set in. Chief minister Oommen Chandy laid the foundation stone of the new international passenger terminal on 1st Ferbuary 2014. The terminal building was inaugurated on 26th Feb.2016. With an investment over 1,000 crores (of Rupees), the terminal will have a built up area of 15 lakh sq.ft. The commercial operation in the new terminal eis expected to begin in September 2016. It will have a peak hour capacity of 4000 passengers.
