Murdeshwar is a town in Uttara Kannada district in the state of Karnataka, India, It is famous for the world's second tallest Shiva statue, the town lies on the coast of the Laccadive Sea and is also famous for the Murudeshwara Temple. The town has a railway station on the Mangalore–Mumbai Konkan railway route.

Temple Complex:
The Murudeshwar Temple is situated on the Kanduka Hill, surrounded by the Arabian Sea on three sides.
The temple complex is known for its towering gopuram (entrance tower), which is about 20 stories high and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Main Attractions:
Shiva Statue: The temple is famous for the second-tallest Shiva statue in the world, standing at 123 feet (37 meters) and visible from great distances.
Raja Gopuram: The entrance tower, also known as the Raja Gopuram, is a prominent feature of the temple complex.
Temple Pond: There is a large pond within the temple complex where devotees can take a dip before entering the temple.

The nearest railway station to Gokarna is the Gokarna Road (GOK) railway station. However, Gokarna Road is a small station and not all trains stop here. The major railway station close to Gokarna is Ankola (ANKL), which is about 20 kilometers away. From Ankola, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Gokarna.
