The first in a series of courses in Rajayoga meditation this video explains the need for inward journey to heal the mind, for the source of permanent happiness and peace is within us. The mind in turn is the best healer of itself. Essential in this journey is the understanding of the true 'I' which is the atma or the soul that propels mind and body.The body is a 'dress' for the soul with its temporal identifiers caused by gender and cultural acquisitions. The atma is an ever-lasting indestructible subtle entity of energy which is conscious. The presence of this energy is evidenced by the functioning of the body in many capacities. Each soul wears a number of 'dresses' and acts in many 'roles' in the many births that a soul goes through. This awareness should dissolve the 'celebration' of differences that we have become prone to. Meditation enables us to return to soul-consciousness. This is the first step of Rajayoga meditation.
