Chiang Rai’s Best Day Trip? 🏍️ Two Summits and the Road to Phu Chi Fa

This was easily one of the biggest highlights of my entire North Thailand trip! Today, I’m leaving Chiang Rai early for an 8-hour mountain adventure to tackle two of the most iconic peaks in the country.
First up is the legendary Phu Chi Fa. Standing on that famous cliff edge looking out over the mountains of Laos is an experience I’ll never forget. I also take a look around Phu Chi Fa Village to check out the local vibe and potential accommodation for anyone planning to stay overnight.
But I didn't stop there. I pushed the ADV 160 further to Phu Chi Dao. I managed to drive almost all the way to the top before taking on the final 25-minute hike to the summit. Being up there, surrounded by nothing but peaks and clouds, left me in absolute awe.
This loop is a long day—about 8 hours total—, but if you have a scooter or a bike in Chiang Rai, it is an absolute must-do.
