Luray Caverns is the Largest Cave System on the East Coast | Get Out of Town

Описание: Laurita and Lauren venture into the captivating underground world of Luray Caverns, the largest cave system on the East Coast, which was discovered in 1878 by Andrew Campbell, Benton Stebbins, and William Campbell. Guided by Bill Huffman, the Portees marvel at the thousands of stalactites and stalagmites adorning the caverns and are mesmerized by the melodious tones of the Great Stalacpipe Organ. The world's largest musical instrument, the organ was built in the 1950s by Pentagon mathematician Leland Sprinkle who connected solenoids to stalactites spread over 3.5 acres. The visit ends at Dream Lake, a reflecting pool that leaves Lauren and Laurita in awe. No wonder Luray Caverns is one of the top things to do in the Shenandoah Valley!
