The name “Vampire Shrimp” comes from two key traits: their nocturnal behaviour, where they become most active at night, and their unique fang-like forelegs that resemble tiny vampire teeth. These specialized appendages aren’t used for hunting or aggression, but for filter feeding microscopic food particles from the water column. Often hiding during the day and emerging after lights out, Vampire Shrimp rely on strong water flow, stable water parameters, and peaceful tank mates to feel secure.
