This powerful archival film captures key moments in Black Panther Party leadership during 1967. It includes a rare prison interview with Huey P. Newton, the Party’s Minister of Defense, alongside an interview with Eldridge Cleaver, the Minister of Information. The documentary also presents scenes from the aftermath of the police raid on the Los Angeles Chapter headquarters, as well as footage of mass demonstrations demanding Huey’s release at Hutton Memorial Park and outside the Alameda County Courthouse. Co-founder Bobby Seale delivers a full reading of the Party’s Ten-Point Platform, grounding the film in the Panthers’ political vision. Originally circulated under the title Off the Pig, this widely distributed Newsreel production also showcases artwork by revolutionary artist Emory Douglas.
