TITLE CARD — Last Century Today (Laugh track in background with applause)
With the lower third saying Carson Seamon: lower part says “The Host (Just ate 40 MC Nuggets)
Carson, smiling, needs to stare into the camera as he walks in while saying his intro line, as if he is introducing a TV show.
Carson - “Hello, I am Carson Seamon. It's September 10th in the amazing year of 1813. I am here with Captain Perry of the United States Navy on the USS Lawrence as we approach the English for a mighty battle.”
Carson sits down and looks at Perry
Carson - “Welcome, Captain Perry, glad to have you on the show.”
Perry - “Thank you for having me, Sir Carson Seamon the third.”
Carson - “Just call me Carson, buddy. — Random Person (Kick rocks, pal) —. Anyway, it would appear we are about to enter a conflict with the English. Could you tell me about that?”
They both look at something in the distance. Distant cannon fire in the background, possibly wood splintering.
Perry - “Of course. We are currently aboard the USS Lawrence, the American flagship. The Detroit has started firing on us, but we are still too far out to retaliate. Our ships are mainly equipped with close-range guns, while the English have a much longer range. With that in mind, our current goal is - .”
Loud Cannon goes boom
Carson - “That's my cue, I’m out of here.”
Carson puts up three fingers and fades with the og vine sound effect.
Carson and Barclay nbvv
Same lower third, but as Carson fades into frame, Carson quickly hides Big Mac
Carson - “Oh shoot… uh, Hey! Carson here with British Captain Barclay, Captain of the Detroit.”
Barclay - “Hello? Who are you?” (Gaddy must speak with a British accent)
Carson - “I see that the Empire hasn’t seen my show yet… Brits, am I right?” Laugh track, “Anyways, Baclay, how’s the fight going?”
Barclay - “Really well, to be honest. We just sunk the USS Lawrence.” Cut to a sinking ship
Carson - “Do you see those men over there boating away?”
Barclay - “Yeah?” Cut to a scene of Perry boating on the Niagara
Perry reaches the Niagara
Perry - “Elliott, I am going to need to take the ship.”
Elliott - “Umm, no, you just got the Lawrence sunk, and now you want this ship.”
Perry - “Yes. You have done absolutely nothing to help. You have been sitting off to the side in the Niagara this whole time.”
Elliot - “No, you can’t have the ship.”
Perry - “Yes.”
Elliot - “No”
Perry - “Yes.”
Elliot - “No”
Perry - “Yes.”
Elliot - “No”
Perry - “Say no one more time, and I am telling Madison.”
Elliot - “Nnnnnnnn ...Yes”
Perry - “Okay, thank you.”
Perry enters the battle on the Niagara
Cut back to Carson and Barclay
Carson - “This is an interesting development. It appears Perry has taken command of the Niagara. The Niagara might finally get to see some action. What are you going to do now, Barclay?”
Barclay - “Well, we will continue what we have been doing and sink the Niagara too. One bad captain on another ship will fall just as easily.”
Canon fire or something to signify that the Niagara has engaged the British
Camera shake
Carson - “I will leave you to it then. It’s time for me to get out of here.” grabs Big Mac and fades again, putting fingers up with an og vine sound effect
Cut to Carson and Harrison on the sideline watching the battle
Carson - “We are here with General Harrison, commander of the American infantry. So, Harrison, what are you doing over here?”
Cut to the back view
Harrison - “Absolutely nothing.”
Cut back to the front view
Carson blinks a few times as it fades out.
Stop motion of Barclay (Gabriel) crashing the ships
Skip to shortly after the battle. Carson meets with Perry to discuss the battle.
Carson - “Hello again, Perry. Can you summarize your triumphant victory for me?”
Perry - “Well, we sank some British ships, and 2 of their ships collided into each other during a maneuver. They retreated to Detroit, which I would say is worse than a surrender. Lastly, we captured their flagship, the Detroit.”
Carson - “Wow, sounds exciting. That was this episode of Next Century Today. Next time, we are exploring Rosa Parks and why the white man was right.”
End:
