USCIS Filing Fee Increase: New 2020 fees for Green Cards, H1B, I601A and I601 waivers and more

● In addition to adjusting fees, the final rule removes certain fee exemptions, limits fee
waivers, alters premium processing time limits, and modifies certain inter-country
adoption processing.
● Some of USCIS’s forms will change. This is important because a case can be rejected
on the basis of an outdated form.

● Some Cases mostly affected: H1B, Citizenship, U-visas, I601A waivers

● BIGGEST INCREASES:

○ I-751: Removal of Conditions on Residence- from $595 to $760 (28% increase)
○ I-765 Application for Employment Authentication NON-DACA from $410 to
$550 (34% increase)
○ I-881 Application for Suspension of Deportation: from $285 to $1,810 ( 535%
increase)
○ I-881 Application for special Rule Cancellation of Removal from $570 to $1,810
(218% increase)
○ I-929 Petition for Qualifying Family Member of a U-1 Nonimmigrant: from $230 to
$1,485 (546%)
○ N-400 Application for Naturalization (paper filing): from $640 to $1,170 (530%
increase)
○ I-129 O Visas: from $460 to $705 (23% increase)
○ Fees would increase by 51%, from $460 to $695, for petitions for the TN (NAFTA
professionals)
○ International Students: An application for employment authorization (I-765) for
international students on Optional Practical Training (OPT) and others (non-
DACA) will rise 34% from $410 to $550

○ Asylum: USCIS would also become one of the few countries in the world to
charge an individual for applying for asylum ($50) and raise the cost for an
asylum applicant to apply for an employment authorization document (EAD) from
the current zero to $490
● SOME DECREASES:
○ I-140 Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker. From $700 to $555 (-21% decrease)
○ N-600 Application for certificate of citizenship from $1170 to $1000 (-15%
decrease)
○ Biometric services: from $85 to $30 (-65% decrease)
○ I-90 Application to replace Permanent Residence Card. From $455 to $415 (-9%
decrease)
