DIY Wood Stain: Steel wool dissolved in vinegar

In this video I repurpose a kitchen countertop butcher block for a small utility table. To finish the surface I stained the raw birch using iron acetate made from soaking steel wool in a jar of vinegar. This gave the tabletop a nice farmhouse style gray wash finish.
After sanding I finished the surface with some Modern Masters Dead Flat Varnish

Finally I mounted the desktop on an Uplift V2 standing desk frame in their metallic color. I opted for Uplift's C-frame with 24'' feet and Heavy Duty Casters so I could roll the table through a standard door frame.
