Midway through the ride, I cross a drawbridge that lifts, creating a brief pause where I have a friendly conversation with another older rider on a bicycle. From the top of the bridge, we observe a gated waterfront property with manicured landscaping, putting greens, and children playing croquet — a rare and nostalgic sight.

After crossing, I stop at the park at the base of Hillsboro Inlet, watching boats travel in and out of the Atlantic Ocean while capturing views of the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse. The return ride becomes a quiet test of patience and planning as the scooter’s small battery slowly runs down on the way back to Deerfield Beach. 🔋😅
